(I wouldn’t recommend doing that without your own hex wrench with a …I put six of them together in about 30 minutes. (I wouldn’t recommend doing that without your own hex wrench with a decent grip on it, though.)I had been hoping that the red show-through would be more of a red wood tone, but it is more of a red paint. Either way would be OK with me, so I can’t complain and they did represent it. It definitely gives the stool a better look to me than a strict, single-color finish.We have an 80 year old house with an eat-in kitchen – the table is directly in the center of the kitchen. First, we were falling over chairs all the time, so I got a trestle table and benches. Which was better, since the benches could be slid under the edge of the table when not in use, but if someone didn’t remember to slide them back under the table (which was a pain with a long bench) – it was the chairs all over again, only in stealth mode and with knee bruises.The stools are a great hybrid between individual chairs and a back-less bench and work great for this problem. They slide completely under the table when not in use, and they are light enough to be easily dragged out with a quick hook of your foot, and shoved back just as easily. If you knock your knee on one, it gives way or falls over before you fall over it. In spite of this, they are very sturdy. My husband is a pretty big guy and they are every bit as stable under him as they are under anybody else.They appear a little low to the eye, but they’re a solid, standard chair height. My daughter is 5’3″ and she was sitting on a pillow with the benches, but these stools sit her up to the table comfortably again.The saddle-seat is definitely more comfortable than a flat top chair/stool. (I have a similar IKEA stool for direct comparison.)I would definitely recommend them.

Excellent for the RVBought 4 of these for the RV and goit rid of the larger factory chairs. These work great and they are very well made. Very easy to install. Only thing I did was I also used carpenters glue while assembling them. The screws that they include Im sure are ample in them selves but I felt using some glue would even make the stronger. The stow away nice in the RV and much easier to use and put away then a big chair. They have a very nice finish and they are rock solid wood. Highly recommend!!

Good table and comfortable stools, 2 broken leg sides >:-\Overall, we really like the table and the chairs. If both sides of one stool weren’t broken, I would give it 5 stars. I have tried multiple avenues of getting this resolved including amazon warranty, amazon questions, and setting up the item return for just the legs (there really isn’t a way to do this), and trying to contact Homelegance themselves – very difficult. For all of that trouble, I would rate it a 1 star as we still only have 3 functioning stools, but the quality of the rest is still good, so I give it 2 stars.We were very happy getting this product initially. The package is incredibly heavy. I read the reviews and the setup was not as difficult as discussed in the other reviews. I supplemented the provided allen wrench with a ratcheting allen wrench in our tool supply and working from both sides of the stool that way – which you can still do with one person only – it worked okay to get the stools put together (except for the broken one).The pictured broken legs are underneath the table top, so we didn’t see how broken it was until we had put one stool and the table together. I had in error already received a different table of similar size that I had to get into the car and return to the store of an online site that has a brick and mortar presence – and let me tell you that with my husband and myself, it was still extremely heavy and difficult to do that. Returning the entire table to get service on one stool seems like such a colossal misuse of effort, time and resources (shipping the entire table both ways again). There has got to be a better way to simply fix the two side legs of a stool.For other potential buyers, beware of broken parts. Beware that returning or replacing them is not easy at all. Hopefully, seeing this review, a solution will be presented by either Amazon or the manufacturer, but so far I am supremely unimpressed with the ability to resolve broken pieces without taking apart the entire thing and returning it. 😐

Solid, easy to assemble, set of stools at a decent priceI’ve been looking for 18″ stools to sit on for viewing our saltwater aquarium in our kitchen and wanted to find wood stools to match our cabinets and these looked like a nice match.ProsEasy to assembleSturdyColor was very close to actual pictureConsScrews use a square head bit, not a typical phillips-head screw. I used my cordless drill and had the correct sized bit to fit but some folks may not. They do include the correct sized tool in the package so you can do it by hand. So not really a con but more of an FYIPlastic caps to cover the holes were a bit too large, had to use a rubber mallet to seat them firmly.Screws aren’t the hardest metal and one screw head stripped out during installation. Luckily, it was tight enough that it didn’t cause problems.If you’re looking for a set of stools that won’t break the bank and are sturdy, this is a nice set with easy assembly. Time will tell on their durability.

Amazon Warehouse purchaseI bought two sets from Amazon Warehouse. One in “Like New” condition, one in “Very Good” condition. One set was as expected. The other was missing parts, had hardware loose and rolling around, a scuffed seat, broken leg support. NOT what I consider “Very Good” condition!!!Aside from that, we are happy with the stools. The color is perfect, kind of a mix between espresso and cherry. They are sturdy and just the right height. Better quality than some others I have viewed in stores. My 10-year-old son had fun assembling the stools using the included L wrench, but he did over tighten one screw that the hole was slightly off on and it split. Hoping we won’t have further issues down the road. Note, there are some C shaped paint marks that are meant to add a distressed look. I wasn’t expecting this, but have no problem with it either, just a heads up for other buyers!

Nice Solid Stools at a good Price!Very solid stools for the price. Assembly was quick, they come with an allen wrench but I used a bit in a power driver. 8 screws per stool and then caps go on those. Good height for our bar. Came in 2 days and were packaged very well. Much more comfortable than the round stools we we were also considering. The two small things I found as negative are 1. The screw caps are plastic. They are a good color and it was a good price but if I am being picky… 2. They have a bit of a ‘distressed’ finish. It isn’t super pronounced but is clearly intentional. There are dark lines in the the seat that aren’t in the picture. They are on each seat in the same pattern. I still gave this 5 stars because I don’t think it takes away from the stools in our house. The saddle style is by definition more casual and I think they are a great value. I just wanted to mention and show it in case others have other opinions.

great value!Just got these and put them together. For the price, i have not found a more inexpensive barstool and these are very good quality. The wood seat is solid as well as the legs. I havent used them very much yet so time will tell if they are durable. The only gripe i have is with putting them together. Maybe i would have a different opinion if i had been warned that using a manual allen wrench was a bad idea. The screws are very tight to screw in, which isnt necessarily bad, but it will hurt your hands after about the second screw. I would highly recommend using a drill with an allen wrench bit to speed up the preocess. Im very happy with this product and as always amazons shipping is amazingly fast. I ordered this on a saturday and it arrived the following friday using free standard shipping. These stools have a very nice cherry finish that will match most dark cabinetry. Highly recommended.
